Hear Our Voice: Do Not Distort the Sacred Symbols of Sacrifices!

A Friendly Appeal.

The Tamil Eelam national liberation struggle was not a mere armed conflict driven by raw emotion. It was a monumental historical movement structured with rigorous military discipline and absolute ideological clarity by our National Leader. Within this institutional framework, the sacrifice of every single cadre who laid down their life for the homeland was meticulously evaluated and weighted. Consequently, specific, institutional titles and official proclamations of immense historical gravity — such as "Maaveerar", "Thalapathi", "Lieutenant Colonel", "Thiyaga Deepam", "Eegaipureoli", "Desathin Kural" (Voice of the Nation), and "Thiyaga Thiruveruvam" — were officially bestowed exclusively by our liberation organization.

However, in contemporary Tamil Nadu politics, several parties and movements who utilize the emotions of our struggle for their own domestic branding systematically alter these official historic titles. By deploying arbitrary terminology in their posters and press releases to fit their own ideological stances, they distort our documented history, causing immense grief and moral distress to the Eelam Tamil collective. To understand this structural dilution, we must analyze three recent prominent examples.

Thileepan commemoration
Do not distort the sacred symbols of sacrifices

The first example is the poster released by Naam Thamizhar Katchi’s coordinator Seeman. Our liberation movement officially proclaimed Thileepan as "Thiyaga Deepam" (The Light of Sacrifice). However, this poster redesigns his identity as "Eegaipureoli Thileepan." In our liberation history, the title 'Eegaipureoli' was uniquely bestowed upon historic martyrs like Murugadasan and Muthukumar, who sacrificed their lives in Tamil Nadu for the cause of Eelam Tamils. Compressing Thileepan’s uncompromising political fast-unto-death into the term 'Eegai' (charity/donation) fundamentally blunts the radical political edge of his theoretical struggle.

The second example is the official X post by VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, who addresses Thileepan as "Tamil Eelam Fighter Maaveerar Colonel Thileepan." Within the strict military hierarchy of our movement, Thileepan was posthumously promoted to the rank of "Lieutenant Colonel" (Lt. Col.). He was never commissioned as a Colonel. Arbitrarily altering the military ranks of our martyrs due to emotional rhetoric or casual public branding damages the historical accuracy and structural discipline of our movement.

The third example is the poster published by the May 17 Movement. While honoring him as "Maaveerar Lt. Col. Thileepan," they printed the quote: "Let the People’s Revolution Erupt, Let Independent Socialist Tamil Eelam Blossom." The actual historic declaration uttered by Thileepan on his deathbed was "Let Independent Tamil Eelam Blossom"; he did not insert the word 'Socialist' into that specific battle cry. Injecting personal modern ideological preferences into the exact quotes of a monumental martyr constitutes a dangerous rewriting of history.

To our blood-relations and political movements in Tamil Nadu:

We profoundly respect your decision to honor our martyrs. However, our history of supreme sacrifice is not a commercial product to be configured for your domestic branding, ideological assimilation, or as a shield against Indian legal constraints. The ultimate tribute you can render to our fallen heroes is to respect and preserve the official terminology and proclamations documented by our movement through immense blood and tears. Hear the moral voice of the Eelam Tamil nation!

The Thirst of the Tigers is the Tamil Eelam Homeland!

Fraternally,

A
